Rafting The Salt River Canyon
2-day & 3-day arizona river trips
| Two Day ~ Raft, Relax, Rejuvenate! |
Indulge in two days of thrilling whitewater as you explore even deeper into the heart of the Salt River Canyon. After leaving all roads and civilization behind, camp is made on a remote beach. Take a break from the “real” world and relax for two days in the canyon where cell phones and email cannot be checked! Your guide-staffed gear boats make camping and dining a five star outing while you enjoy this inspiring adventure. Journey further down the canyon and catch a thrill though two class IV “big drop” rapids. This trip includes 2 days of rafting, one night of remote camping, delicious food, and relaxation under the stars. Exciting whitewater, breathtaking scenery, incredible meals and a feeling of renewal characterize this trip.

Itinerary**
Day One
-
Meet at our Salt River Office at 10:00 AM

Check in, sign release forms, load gear bags and get dressed for the river! Wetsuits and booties are provided. For more on what to wear & bring click here.

Shuttle to river for safety orientation and boating instructions.

Hit the river!

Tackle "Baptism", "Island', "Kiss and Tell", "Bump and Grind", "Grumman", "Mother Rock", and "Overboard” rapids!

Stop for a hot grilled steak lunch (vegetarian options available).

Get back on the river for "Exhibition", "Cibecue", "Three Way" and the exhilarating "Mescal Falls!”

Land on a remote beach where you will relax in our deluxe camp. Enjoy quiet fishing (bring your own fishing pole) and/or hiking as your guides prepare a delicious dinner.

After dinner, relax around the fire, under the stars and share stories of adventures with friends and family, while our professional, highly trained and educated guides provide entertainment of their own!
Day Two

Enjoy a hearty breakfast.
- Relax as your guides reload your camping gear onto the rafts.
- Float past the sacred Salt Banks.

Tackle "Ledges Rapid" and stop for an optional short hike up Walnut Creek.

Splash through "Ruin" and "Rock Garden" rapids.

Enter the White Rock Canyon with its walls of polished granite. Here the river changes character, becoming swifter and more channelized.
- Hold on as you run "The Cheese" "Rat Trap" and "White Rock" rapids.

Stop for our all you can eat, deli style lunch. (Vegetarian options available)

Get back on the river for "Granite" and "Canyon Creek" rapids.
- Take in the tranquil sounds of Pete's Pond at the bottom of the rapids.

The canyon opens up and we reach our 2-day take out at Gleason Flat

Take out and shuttle back along Apache Road 1. WARNING the ride back can be as exhilarating as the rafting itself!

Return to your vehicle around 5:00 pm, renewed and inspired from having visited this magical place.

| Three Day ~ See all of the beauty of the canyon! |
Enjoy two nights of camping and three days of rafting in the beautiful 2000 foot deep Salt River Canyon. You’ll marvel at the canyon’s geology and unique natural beauty, characterized by blooming saguaro cacti, soaring hawks and bald eagles, and ancient canyon walls. The further into the canyon you go the more scenic it gets! After passing by the “Salt Banks” that give the river it’s name, you will leave behind the “thrill seeking” crowd and enter into the pristine wilderness area where you will have a chance to soak in the beauty of the Salt River Canyon.

- Tonight is the last night in camp and the guides pull out all the stops with gourmet, fresh baked, Dutch oven treats and top-notch catering to your needs.
Day Three
- Wake to another hearty breakfast
- Hit the river for the invigorating class IV "Black Rock", the renowned "Quartzite Falls" and "Corkscrew" along with numerous class III rapids throughout the day.
- The canyon continues to change and evolve as we journey downstream, opening and closing, as if never content to let the river proceed smoothly.
- The whitewater slows to class 2 and 3 as we reflect on what has been an awesome journey of discovery and fun.
- Take out and shuttle back to your car at the meeting point. Return to your vehicle around 5:00 PM.
*Please note that all itineraries are subject to change due to river conditions. Our 3 Day Salt River trip will end between Gleason Flats and the HWY 288 bridge. |

What to Bring and Wear:
- Wear: nylon shorts, swimsuit and shoes that can get wet (no flip flops). Wetsuit rentals are included at no additional charge!
- Bring: sunscreen, hiking shoes, tent, sleeping bag, cot or ground pad (rentals available for camping equipment), warm clothes for in camp, toiletries, cash for souvenirs and professional photographs of your trip. Sunglasses, water bottle, hat, dry clothes for the ride home and most importantly your sense of adventure!
- Mild to Wild offers: sunscreen, sunglass leashes (chums), souvenir tee-shirts, and professional photographs of your trip at our Salt River Base Camp office. Due to our remote location only cash and checks accepted.
