Salt River Guide Cert. Class

Salt River

Guide Certification Class.

Brought to you by Mild To Wild and Outdoor Pursuits.

This 12-day course is focused on the certification of participants as class three river guides.  The first eight days will be spent in Arizona on the Salt River starting March 6, 2010 at 4pm and lasting through March 13, 2010.  This spectacular canyon offers a fantastic setting to learn the many skills associated with leading whitewater rafting trips. The final five days will take place on the Lower Animas in Durango on May 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23.  We provide a state certified instructor for this guide traingin program and at the end of the class you will be a certified class 3 guide and you will be qualified to be Salt River Guide.

Skills learned will include: leadership training, group dynamics training, decision-making, organizing and care of both paddle and oar boats.

The standard course emphasizes on river-reading techniques rather than memorization of set routes. This skill enables course participants to guide on class III water anywhere, not just on those sections previously run.
